Honor Student of the Week
Posted on August 21, 2013
This week’s honor student, 15 year old Lavante Jackson, hails from Chicago’s Garfield Park neighborhood. When Lavante isn’t hitting the books or at choir practice, he enjoys hanging out on street corners, being twice arrested on drug charges, wearing electronic monitoring bracelets and shooting 7 year old kids.
“A 15-year-old boy jumped from his bike and opened fire after a passenger in a car issued an apparent taunt, but the bullets struck a 7-year-old child who had just returned from riding bikes with his cousin, authorities and family said Tuesday.
Cook County prosecutors said Lavante Jackson was tied to the Sunday night shooting on the West Side by two eyewitnesses and the GPS bracelet he was wearing as part of his bail on juvenile drug charges.”
Despite this small setback, Lavante’s mother insists “He’s not a bad kid” and has the face tattoos prove it:
“He just lost his best friend over there,” she told reporters. “He got it tattooed on his forehead, on his face.”
Court records show Jackson has a tattoo near his right eye that reads “RIP” and another near his left eye that reads “Tonio.”
Nothing says “bright and hopeful future” like facial tattoos. There’s still time for Lavante to turn things around and become the first neurosurgeon with gangland face tats or maybe the first human on Mars with an electronic monitoring bracelet… after a lengthy prison term of course.
Disclaimer: Mugshots of underage “kids” are not released so we’ve posted an approximation of the accused.
